DAT {2028}
A body moves through the day.
Wakes up. Walks. Sits. Listens.
But the mind is somewhere else.
This project explores what it means to exist between two places, where “home” becomes uncertain, and presence splits into fragments.
Through layered sound and inner dialogue, the listener drifts between memory and reality, between now and then.
A loop without closure. A life paused between two versions of itself. The piece is constructed through layered sound, using spatialization to create a separation between inner and outer perspectives. Subtle shifts in direction, distance, and presence are used to simulate the feeling of being in two places at once. The structure follows a continuous loop, where transitions are designed to feel seamless, without a fixed beginning or end. The lecture text is adapted from psychological research on ambiguous loss (Pauline Boss), bicultural identity integration (Benet-Martínez & Haritatos), and migration-related grief.
Recorded using shotgun and lavalier microphones, and a Zoom H6 recorder.
Monologue: Nazanin Ghalandari
Sound Recording: Nazanin Ghalandari & Lina Ptushkina
Mixing and Production: Lina Ptushkina
